Abstract

Short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks with conjunctival injection and tearing (SUNCT) is a rare headache disorder and is characterized by brief attacks of severe unilateral pain in the orbitotemporal region, associated with ipsilateral cranial autonomic disturbances. Recently several anticonvulsants including lamotrigine, topiramate, gabapentin and oxcarbazepine have been reported to be effective for treating SUNCT. We report a patient of SUNCT whose symptoms were completely relieved with pregabalin 150 mg/day. This is the first case report to describe pregabalin completely eliminating SUNCT symptoms. Pregablin could be considered a viable candidate drug for the treatment of SUNCT.
